About Us
A warm welcome to Medway Volunteer Centre, formally known as Hands Rochester. We are passionate about volunteers and volunteering. Hands Rochester Volunteer Centre has been actively helping volunteers find positions and local organisations find volunteers since 1969, so there is nowhere more qualified to assist and support you in your volunteering career.
We are a registered charity (no. 284288) and part of the National Volunteer network.
Our Volunteer Centre recruits volunteers on behalf of charitable, voluntary and statutory bodies who have requested our assistance to find volunteers.
We are accredited with Volunteering England and have 6 core functions to help you get the most from volunteer helpers and volunteering:
1 brokerage – assisting organisations in finding volunteers for their roles
2 marketing volunteering – promoting voluntary work & the benefits of volunteering
3 good practice development – helping to ensure the volunteering experience is good
4 developing volunteering opportunities – working with organisations
5 policy response and campaigning – volunteering issues
6 strategic development of volunteering – development of volunteering in your area
